Despite the fact that December never consistently felt much like winter, Christmas has now come and gone and the trees are, for the most part, now empty of leaves. Once we have cleaned out the natural areas, and disposed of all the leaves on the ground, we will move on to the winter’s primary projects; tree removal, root pruning, and landscape planter renovation.
Our painting efforts were successful back in November, but now they have grown-out as warmer weather returned, which has required more frequent mowing. We now are scheduled to repaint greens in February and follow up that application with slow release fertilizer. This combined effort should carry us into spring and warmer soil temperatures.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation in dealing with frosty and frozen mornings. Delays are never fun but sometimes necessary when trying to get the golf course ready for play. We will continue to do as much course preparation as possible on Fridays so as to minimize our punch list for these weekend mornings.
Wishing all BVCC members a safe and Happy New Year…

P.S. A special thanks to Sandra Smith for the tasty and thoughtful chili lunch she provided all the guys at Golf Maintenance. We look forward to that treat every year.
