Greens are recovering from our June aerification and continue to improve every week. We will be aerifying fairways, tees and roughs this month which will improve perculation rates and allow increased nutrients and air flow to the roots. This combined with our summer fertilizer program will provide strong lush fairways throughout the summer and into the fall. We apologize for the inconvenience but appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we complete these much needed agronomic programs.
As mentioned last month, we will continue our verticutting and topdressing program supplemented with solid tine aerification in the weak areas. The weakest areas of the greens will be plugged to help expedite recovery.
I have noticed an increase in the care and maintenance of sand traps by our members in recent weeks and I would like to express my thanks. It is not always possible to provide you with the playing conditions that we feel you deserve and so I would like you to know how much I appreciate the extra attention you have given to the golf course.
In closing I would like say how important it is for us to remember that everything we are doing now is being done to provide us with a stronger healthier turf. This not only provides us with improved playing conditions but the stronger the turf going into the off season the better transition we will have next spring.
From the Course Maintenance Staff, we’ll see you on the course!
