Course History

Brook Valley's beautiful and challenging Ellis Maples designed golf course opened in 1966. The land on which this layout is designed weaves in and out of towering pines, mature hardwoods, and rolling hills not commonly found in eastern North Carolina. From the championship tees, the course stretches out 6,801 yards, while from the member tees, golfers negotiate a course of 6,000 yards and may never have the same shot twice. The ladies tees measure a friendly, but challenging 5,131 yards. No matter what set of tees you choose to play, the course demands the use of every club in your bag. Convenient practice facilities include a driving range with unlimited practice balls, a chipping green, and two putting greens.

Brook Valley offers a well-stocked, full service golf shop with an exceptionally friendly staff of PGA professionals ready to assist your every golfing need. New services include the availability of a player service attendant to assist, and unlimited range balls.

The renowned Ellis Maples course layout of Brook Valley Country Club has hosted prestigious events such as the North Carolina Women's Amateur, the North Carolina Open, the North Carolina-South Carolina Amateur and the Michael Jordan Celebrity Golf Classic to name a few. The course has been the site of the NGA Hooters Tour Touchstone Energy Open. Brook Valley is also the site of a public exhibition match, which took place in the fall of 1966 between world renowned golfers, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, and PGA Low Record Holder, Mike Souchak.

We invite you to come and experience the course and facility that Ben Hogan termed "excellent" and to become a member of one of the top clubs and courses in eastern North Carolina.
